Every vegan encounters (or rather endures) questions like, “Where do you get your protein?” over and over and over again. It’s like a right of passage. You’ve probably also heard people say that “being vegan is expensive” and perhaps that “soy can give you man boobs.” There are a lot of vegan myths out there about plant-based living that are simply not true, and today we’re going to tackle 15 of them.
I turned to several experts and thought leaders in the vegan world to tackle these vegan myths, including author and speaker Colleen Patrick-Goudreau, co-founder of Farm Sanctuary Gene Baur, musician and long-time vegan Moby, former NFL player David Carter (aka the 300 Pound Vegan), and more. So without further ado, let’s bury these false vegan myths once and for all!

I hope these videos are helpful and that you learned something new. Misinformation spreads wicked fast on the internet and through word of mouth, so always remember to do your own research, dig a little deeper, and don’t internalize everything you read or hear before looking into it yourself.
If you could use some help responding to the common vegan questions we are all asked so frequently, check out this video. I created an entire “VegAnswers” series on the World of Vegan YouTube channel to help empower you to find your voice.
With that, I’ll leave you with one of my favorite quotes:
“Stand before the people you fear and speak your mind—even if your voice shakes.” – Maggie Kuhn
