Before I dive in, I do want to note that the most sustainable, eco-conscious decision regarding parenting is to choose to adopt, become a foster parent, or not have kids at all. However, for a variety of reasons many still choose to have kids (I did!) and as always we do our best to foster a supportive and judgement-free zone here at World of Vegan.

With that in mind, we’re excited to share resources here at World of Vegan to support all the compassionate mamas and papas out there who are tirelessly raising the next generation.

Today we’re going to start at the very beginning. It’s where we all started out as wee-little-chickpeeps in our momma’s belly. Yup, the first trimester of pregnancy.

That’s where I am right now. Sitting here with waves of nausea coursing through my body, a garbage pail next to me (just in case I hurl), at the tail end of my first trimester. Like so many moms who came before me, I’m trying my best to “survive” these first three months, and not much more.

For some lucky ones, the first trimester will be a breeze. Heck, some mamas don’t even know they’re pregnant until the fourth month! But whatever hand we’re dealt, we all have a lot ahead of us, a lot changing and happening in our bodies, and a lot to plan for.

So without further ado, let’s dive into the top resources for those first few months of vegan pregnancy.

Favorite Vegan Pregnancy Resources:

Vegan Pregnancy Essentials:

♦️ Vegan Prenatal Vitamins (I take these vegan prenatal vitamins from Naturelo, plus Vitamin D, vegan DHA, and my usual Vitamin B12 supplement.)

♦️ Prenatal Vitamin Organizer

♦️ What to Expect When You’re Expecting

♦️ Everything Vegan Pregnancy Book

♦️ The Expectant Father (for dads)

♦️ Pregnancy Journal

Favorites For Combatting Nausea:

♦️ Fresh Ginger (add slices to hot water)

♦️ Ginger Tea (I drank this one)

♦️ GinGins Ginger Chews

♦️ SeaBands (Acupressure Wrist Bands)

♦️ Popsicles (or DIY icicle pops; I used filtered water in these molds)

♦️ Saltine Crackers

Favorite Phone Apps:

♦️ Clue (to track your period fertile windows when you’re trying to get pregnant)

♦️ The Bump

♦️ Ovia Pregnancy

♦️ Pregnancy +

I hope this helps, and I’m wishing all you mamas strength and the very best in getting through this first trimester. I’m excited to report that things are very likely about to get so much better. Until then, stay strong!
