Traveling as a vegan can be incredibly exciting and rewarding as you seek out the plant-strong gems across the globe. One of our favorite destinations is The Stanford Inn by the Sea, an eco-friendly vegan resort in Mendocino, California.
The Stanford Inn is 3 hours north of San Francisco, but much of the drive is beautiful and woodsy. Plus, you pass right by Amy’s Drive Thru in Rohnert Park, an all-vegetarian fast food restaurant where you can grab a veggie burger and coconut shake on your way!
When you arrive at the Inn you’ll be greeted by the most friendly staff and the sweetest resident animals. Head to your room and you’ll find some vegan cookies, the latest VegNews magazine, an epic ocean view, and double-doors that open out to the Inn’s lush garden. If you’re traveling with a furry companion, your room will also be outfitted with dog bowls and a house-made sweet potato treat!
There is so much to do throughout your stay—from biking to boating to exploring the Inn’s edible gardens. The Stanford Inn’s wellness center pioneered by Sid Garza-Hillman offers yoga, massage (in the woods!), spa treatments, and nutrition, gardening, and cooking classes. But by far the highlight of any trip to the Stanford Inn is the gourmet vegan food prepared by Chef Sadhaha Berkow. You can dine at the Stanford Inn’s restaurant called The Ravens, a fine dining establishment serving local, organic, and conscious meals that are both artful and insanely delicious.
Now, without further ado, Michelle Cehn and Rebecca Gilbert bring you along virtually to experience The Stanford Inn through video. Bon voyage!
